The View From The Front Porch

Great to have Lowe Finney on board

It was a big day for us in Jackson, where I was proud to receive the endorsement of State Sen. Lowe Finney. This rising young political star is an inspiration to me: He took on a Republican incumbent in the state Senate, fought hard and walked away with the seat. And the people of West Tennessee’s 27th District are better for it.

I met a number of them today in Jackson. Dennis Henderson graciously welcomed me at his architectural engineering office in the charming historic downtown area, where I talked with former Mayor Charles Farmer and Mark Donahoe.

Business was bustling over at the Baker’s Rack, just off Jackson’s town square. Jake and I had lunch with a group of Madison County Democrats that included Lillian Kolwyck, Tammy Bradford, Democratic Executive Committeeman Don Farmer and county Democratic Chair David Johnson. It was a great chance to shake hands with the many voters who were enjoying lunch there.

I also released what I envision for our rural economy, a program I am calling “TN 2.0: Rebuilding, From the Farm to the Front Porch.” I hope you’ll look at it in the Where I Stand section of my Web site and let me know what you think.

Tonight, Patty is meeting Jake and me for dinner with supporters in Memphis. She says the family’s gotten so attached to Jake, we may just take him on our next family vacation. I’ll get back with you tomorrow…Mike
